Project Overview
A full-scale corporate website renewal built on WordPress, involving 8 engineers, 6 designers, and 2 directors. I joined mid-project as a front-end implementer, responsible for translating Figma designs into Sass-styled pages and WordPress PHP templates while managing content structures through the CMS.
My Contribution
- Frontend Implementation (20+ Pages): Built 20+ pages from Figma specs,a mix of Sass-styled layouts, WordPress PHP template files, and hardcoded HTML where the design required it. Page types ranged from standard templates to unique one-off layouts.
- WordPress CMS Setup: Configured custom post types and WordPress settings to match the site's content structure, enabling the client to manage content independently through the CMS after launch.
- Process Improvement: Identified that client-requested updates were being missed between meetings. Took accountability, proposed a shared task checklist on Jira and Google Sheets, and established regular check-in meetings. The system was adopted by the team and eliminated the same issue for the remainder of the project.
- Team Collaboration: Managed code via Bitbucket within a 16-person team, coordinating commits and maintaining consistent code standards across 50+ pages with a large group of engineers.
Outcome
The site launched successfully. The check system I proposed was retained as standard team practice,a direct result of taking ownership of a coordination gap and fixing it, rather than letting it recur.
